50 Days

50 day period between Passover and Shavuot

The 50 day period between Passover and Shavuot is a special time called the Counting of the Omer. The Counting of the Omer begins on the second night of Passover when an omer—roughly one gallon—of barley was traditionally brought to the Temple as a grain offering. This offering came to simply be called ‘the Omer’ and it would be counted daily until the night before Shavuot to help the Israelites remember the link between Passover and Shavuot.

Passover commemorates the Exodus from Egypt, while Shavout commemorates the giving of the Torah, the first five books of the Bible, to Moses on Mt. Sinai. It serves as a reminder that we were not truly free until the Word was given.

Each day during the Counting of the Omer a prayer is prayed, part of which says:

“May God be gracious to us and bless us; may He make His countenance shine upon us forever; that Your way be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations. The nations will extol You, O God; all the nations will extol You. The nations will rejoice and sing for joy, for You will judge the peoples justly and guide the nations on earth forever. The peoples will extol You, O God; all the peoples will extol You, for the earth will have yielded its produce and God, our God, will bless us. God will bless us; and all, from the farthest corners of the earth, shall fear Him.

“We implore You, by the great power of Your right hand, release the captive. Accept the prayer of Your people; strengthen us, purify us, Awesome One. Mighty One, we beseech You, guard as the apple of the eye those who seek Your Oneness. Bless them, cleanse them; bestow upon them forever Your merciful righteousness. Powerful, Holy One, in Your abounding goodness, guide Your congregation. Only and Exalted One, turn to Your people who are mindful of Your holiness. Accept our supplication and hear our cry, You who knows secret thoughts. Blessed be the name of the glory of His kingdom forever and ever.”

At My Olive Tree we love many of the traditions of Israel and her people, and we love that through your sponsorship efforts our trees and vines are yielding produce to bless the people and the land.

This unique prayer for the period of Counting of the Omer reflects our desire for God to truly guard the apple of His eye… bless them… cleanse them… bestow upon them merciful righteousness and guidance.

At My Olive Tree we are doing more than just uttering prayers. We are gathering sponsors just like you to help restore the land and bless the people.

May Israel be strengthened and her people at peace during this and every season!

Our Mission

Our mission is to create a partnership between the Evangelical community and the nation of Israel; this partnership will produce employment, income, and revenue for humanitarian aid projects in Israel. We envision the planting of one-million olive trees over the next seven years. This relationship was prophesied in the Bible centuries ago, that the foreigners and strangers (those not of Jewish descent) would help rebuild the walls of Israel and cause the desert to bloom (Isa 35:1). Among other things, this reforestation is an environmental blessing for the entire region. May all who participate in this project be blessed body, soul and spirit; it is time for you to take root in Israel!
