An Olive Tree Sponsorship Can Be a Living Memorial

What event in your life would you like to commemorate?

As human beings, the idea of memorializing people and events is very important to us. Think of all the memorial structures we build, from headstones and urns to large monuments and buildings. We care deeply about honoring the people we love and the moments in our lives that have meant a lot to us.

This practice or memorializing is even mentioned several times in scripture. For example, Exodus 12:14 reads “This day shall be for you a memorial day, and you shall keep it as a feast to the Lord; throughout your generations, as a statute forever, you shall keep it as a feast.”

At My Olive Tree, we offer a unique and truly meaningful way to memorialize someone or something. You have the ability to sponsor an olive tree in someone’s name, and have it grow in Israel for many years to come.

The process of planting a tree is commonly associated with peace, new life and togetherness. What better way to honor a loved one, a member of the armed forces or to commemorate a special event in one’s life?

Olive trees are a special tree to plant as a memorial, as many olive trees throughout the Mediterranean region are said to be hundreds to a couple thousand years old. In fact, some trees have been individually verified to have been growing while Christ walked the earth. The average lifespan of an olive tree is 500 years—quite a lengthy lifespan for your chosen memorial!

Israel is a particularly meaningful location for such a memorial, as olive trees thrive in sandy soil and a long, hot growing season. You can expect your olive tree to start bearing fruit at around three or four years old, and production will increase with time.

Finally, there’s something special about a living memorial rather than one made of stone. It will provide jobs for Israelis and a greater quality of life for people in the region.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create a partnership between the Evangelical community and the nation of Israel; this partnership will produce employment, income, and revenue for humanitarian aid projects in Israel. We envision the planting of one-million olive trees over the next seven years. This relationship was prophesied in the Bible centuries ago, that the foreigners and strangers (those not of Jewish descent) would help rebuild the walls of Israel and cause the desert to bloom (Isa 35:1). Among other things, this reforestation is an environmental blessing for the entire region. May all who participate in this project be blessed body, soul and spirit; it is time for you to take root in Israel!
