Blessing Israel | Why Do Many Christians Support Israel?

With the United States' decision to move the American Embassy to Israel’s capital of Jerusalem, supporters of Israel are speaking loud and clear. Many in the Christian community are uniting in the Lord’s promise of Israel’s restoration.

“Thus speaks the Lord God of Israel, saying: ‘Write in a book for yourself all the words that I have spoken to you. For behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘that I will bring back from captivity My people Israel and Judah,’ says the Lord. ‘And I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.’”—Jeremiah 30 2:3

The Lord’s promise of Israel’s return is coming to fruition. The major waves of migration in the 1900s to the blooming of the desert of today prove the Lord is gathering His people and the prophecy of land restoration is underway.

There is also a promise for many who support, stand in solidarity with, and pray for Israel.

“I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”—Genesis 12:3

History: Israel, You Will Never Be Forgotten

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob remains with Israel. He plans to completely restore, honor, and bless them. In fact, Israel is the apple of God’s eye and her citizens are still His people.

  • “For thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.’”—Zechariah 2:10
  • “Thus speaks the Lord God of Israel, saying: ‘Write in a book for yourself all the words that I have spoken to you. For behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘that I will bring back from captivity My people Israel and Judah,’ says the Lord. ‘And I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.’”—Jeremiah 30:2-3

Many in the Body of Christ today, in these end-times, are witnessing prophecy being fulfilled. Prophecy about Israel’s restoration isn’t just in the Old Testament, but the Apostle Paul provides even greater depth in the New Testament.

Paul stressed that the Gentile nations are a “wild olive branch,” grafted into Israel, not to replace her. That together, Jews and Gentiles, are partakers of the “fatness of the olive tree.” He goes on to say this…

“…do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you.”—Romans 11:18

Many Christians today understand that the Jewish nation is the branch for which they are grafted into, and the Lord is the root.

Why the history of Christianity points to supporting Israel

  • Let us not forget that the Christian faith is founded in Jewish roots. Remember the forefathers of the Christian faith. Would those who believe that the blood of Jesus saves them hold the faith they have today had the nation of Israel come first? Jesus was Jewish and loved Israel.
  • Jesus told His disciples Israel would be restored with the help of the Church.“…Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?… It is not for you to know the times or seasons which the Father has put in His own But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth”—Acts 1:6-8.

The disciples knew from Old Testament prophecy that there would be a national and spiritual restoration of Israel. Jesus then explained to them that Believers in Him would be a part of God’s restorative plans.

  • The Lord’s promises are eternal. The Bible says that the Lord’s character is eternal and unchanging. Therefore, many who believe in the God of the Bible believe in His promises and stand for what He does.

“Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations… and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; and I will make them one nation in the land… they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again… Then they shall be My people, and I will be their God.”—Ezekiel 37:21-23

Present Day: Israel’s Restoration

Many people in the Christian community stand with Israel, and the number is growing as more awareness is presented about the nation’s political, economic, environmental, and spiritual growth. The movement is gaining momentum because the United States is seemingly coming into alignment with God’s plan.

With the Aliyahs in the last century, a number of God’s people are being regathered to their homeland. The United States’ official recognition of Jerusalem as the capital, followed by the move of the U.S. Embassy, puts prophecy fulfillment front of mind for many Christians today.

The Bible says to comfort Israel. God calls many Christians today to speak tenderly to and pray for the regathering of His people. The Bible says that many Christians will nurture the Jewish people and facilitate a return to their land; this transformation is underway today!

“’Comfort, yes, comfort My people!’ says your God. ‘Speak comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her, that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned; for she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.’”—Isaiah 40:1-2

Future: My Olive Tree Is Planting Trees for Land Covenant Restoration

There are a number of organizations coming together to support Israel. Many groups pray for and keep the supporters up to speed with the latest Israeli news.

What isn’t talked about as much but will be, as God proclaimed it in His Word, is the land restoration in Israel. After the Jewish people return to their ancestral homeland, the Land Covenant God made with Abraham will be renewed.

The apple of God’s eye can’t flourish unless the land blooms. Therefore, God is raising up those who support Israel as well as those who plant physical roots in the Holy Land.

“…that the Lord your God will bring you back from captivity, and have compassion on you, and gather you again from all the nations where the Lord your God has scattered you. If any of you are driven out to the farthest parts under heaven, from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there He will bring you.

“Then the Lord your God will bring you to the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it. He will prosper you and multiply you more than your fathers.”—Deuteronomy 30:3-5

My Olive Tree doesn’t want to stand by and merely watch and learn about Israel; we want to pour our blessings on the land and her people. We are taking those next steps in God’s restorative plan for His people.

Those who have gone through the heartbreak of the past, such as the Holocaust, and serve their country receive practical support such as basic needs, home repairs, and hot meals.

We are planting olive trees in the ancient Kidron Valley, reaping a harvest of spiritual oil, and planting the 7 species, referred to in Deuteronomy 8:8, within the city of Jerusalem.

Together, we plant trees in a valley where the Bible says Jesus once walked and where He will return again.

We will not forget Israel’s past; we honor it. We stand with Israel, the branches of the olive tree, to move her forward into God’s divine destiny.
