Super Blue Blood Moon and Tu B’Shvat

By My Olive Tree | February 28, 2018

“And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring.”—Luke 21:25

What is a Super Blue Blood Moon?

A lunar eclipse occurs when the earth passes between the sun and the moon. This blocks the sun’s rays from reflecting off the moon as normal. However, some of the sun’s rays curve around the earth causing the moon to appear red during a total eclipse.

There were a series of supermoons over the past couple of months, beginning on December 4. The supermoon on January 1 marked the largest moon appearance of the three due to it’s close proximity to the earth. The super blue blood moon on January 31 was the third in a series of supermoons. It was the second full moon in a single calendar month, giving it the name “blue moon.”

What is Tu B’Shvat?

The night of Tuesday, January 30 through sundown Wednesday, January 31 marks the fifteenth day of the Jewish lunar month of Shevat. The festival of Tu B’Shvat (the 15th of Shevat) comes at a time of seasonal change in Israel. The winter rain subsides and a trees and fruit begin a new life cycle.

Tu B’Shvat is referred to as the “birthday of trees” because this was a date for calculating the “birth” and age of a tree. Historically, the tree’s first fruit of its fourth year was taken to the Temple as an offering.

Super Blue Blood Moon and Tu B’Shvat come together—coincidence or together with supreme authority?

In Hebrew there is not a single word for coincidence. The two-words that are commonly used to refer to coincidence are tzeruf-miqrim, meaning ‘a combination of happenings.’

In Greek coincidence is translated from the word synkyrian. It’s another two-word combination of the word sun—together with, and kurious—supreme in authority.

Understanding the Jewish roots of words allows you to walk in greater knowledge and understanding of what God reveals through His Word, especially in understanding prophecy. Perhaps a more accurate and biblical definition of coincidence is circumstances brought together by the divine and supreme authority of God.

How will you start the “New Year of Trees?” This divinely appointed season of rebirth.

Now is a time to stand with Israel. Not allowing the enemy to separate, we can show love, hope and restoration following this divine circumstance for the Jewish people.

The enemy may want us to fear in these times of wars, conflicts, violence, natural disasters and terrorism. However, we know God’s Word says, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).

God IS in control and has a plan of restoration for His chosen people. He calls us to stand with the Jewish nation, to replant and revive her lands and her people.

Will you consider standing together with Israel during this divine appointment, the New Year of Trees? Your seeds of hope will be fulfilling biblical prophecy of restoration in God’s city.

“The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them, and the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose.”—Isaiah 35:1

“‘On that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, and repair its damages;
I will raise up its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old; that they may possess the remnant of Edom, and all the Gentiles who are called by My name,’ says the Lord who does this thing.”
—Amos 9:11-12
