Happy TuB’Shivat!

shutterstock_124581694What is TuB’Shivat? Why is it important? What does it have to do with you?

In the US we have many different times throughout the year when we start a new year: a new calendar year, fiscal year, school year, etc.

In Judaism there are also several new years. TuB’Shivat is the New Year for trees!

TuB'Shivat is the New Year for trees and

was used to calculate the age of trees for tithing.

In Leviticus 19:23-25, God commanded His people:

“When you come into the land, and have planted all kinds of trees for food, then you shall count their fruit as uncircumcised. Three years it shall be as uncircumcised to you. It shall not be eaten. But in the fourth year all its fruit shall be holy, a praise to the Lord. And in the fifth year you may eat its fruit, that it may yield to you its increase…”

Each year on TuB’Shivat, every tree is considered to be one year older—one year closer to providing fruit for God’s chosen! But this year is especially important.

This TuB’Shivat is in a SHMITA year (5775)—a year where the nation of Israel enters into a season of rest and stops striving and relying on their own strength.

It is a season to prepare us to receive our Jubilee inheritance in 5776.

5776 is a Jubilee year and the 70th Jubilee year observed since Joshua led the children of Israel into the Promised Land!

TuB’shivat is very symbolic for My Olive Tree and what we do in the nation of Israel.

“Remember the word which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, saying, ‘The Lord your God is giving you rest and is giving you this land.’ until the Lord has given your brethren rest, as He gave you, and they also have taken possession of the land which the Lord your God is giving them. Then you shall return to the land of your possession and enjoy it, which Moses the Lord’s servant gave you on this side of the Jordan toward the sunrise.”—Joshua 1: 13, 15

Part of possessing the land and enjoying the land is planting trees.

Trees declare a future.

Olive trees boost the agricultural economy.

THIS is an olive tree decree that Israel belongs in her homeland—a homeland a peace.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create a partnership between the Evangelical community and the nation of Israel; this partnership will produce employment, income, and revenue for humanitarian aid projects in Israel. We envision the planting of one-million olive trees over the next seven years. This relationship was prophesied in the Bible centuries ago, that the foreigners and strangers (those not of Jewish descent) would help rebuild the walls of Israel and cause the desert to bloom (Isa 35:1). Among other things, this reforestation is an environmental blessing for the entire region. May all who participate in this project be blessed body, soul and spirit; it is time for you to take root in Israel!
