How is The King’s Oil Different from Other Anointing Oils?

The King’s Oil: Holy Anointing Oil is considered by some Christians as a biblically a controversial anointing oil. Many times, Believers approach us and share that they are uncomfortable with the idea of reproducing this ever so special holy anointing oil. We completely understand the controversy, and it is for this reason that we have written The King’s Oil: Breaking the Yoke—a 52-page booklet that addresses the reasons for which we felt led to reformulate and produce this oil, particularly at this season and at this time.

To help you understand more about this special holy oil, we are sharing excerpts from the booklet with you here…

“The testimony of the restoration of The King’s Oil is something that is very important for the Church to hear and understand; it speaks of the times and seasons, and is part of the restitution of all things spoken of in Acts 3:19-21:

“‘Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began…’ (Emphasis added)

“This generation has the incredible honor of witnessing the restoration of Israel and Jerusalem, and the prophetic return of her people. We have also seen the restoration power of Christians returning to the Jewish roots of their faith. As the Church is truly reuniting with her heritage, we believe that God has unlocked the mystery of The King’s Oil as a spiritual tool—a symbolic part of the refreshing that the Lord is washing over His Bride, the Church.

“The Lord is setting apart His remnant. He is raising up His Bride and preparing us for a great outpouring and awakening. He is equipping us to serve and to become holy vessels of deliverance—and He is breaking the yokes and bondage so that we can serve Him as a Kingdom of Priests!

“‘It shall come to pass in that day that his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck, and the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.’ —Isaiah 10:27 (Emphasis added)

We take our responsibility as king-priests very seriously at My Olive Tree, but many people ask us what does that look like in the modern age?

We define that for you as well in this short excerpt from the booklet…

Kings and Priests

“This spiritual significance goes beyond the many unique physical attributes The King’s Oil holds. In the most basic sense, the anointing oil can be used when praying for others, or for anointing your home in the same manner the priests would have anointed items in the Tabernacle. This anointing process was a sign of sanctification or of setting something apart for God’s intended use and purpose. It is a tool to destroy the yoke.

The King’ s Oil represents just one of the many mysteries that God is unlocking for His Church.

“We believe that the restoration of the anointing oil is timely and has been orchestrated by God. However, unlocking the mystery of this holy anointing oil has been controversial in some circles, because of various interpretations of Exodus 30.

“In Exodus 30:25-33 we do, in-fact, read of a serious warning about the use of the holy anointing oil. Verse 33 states that ‘Whoever makes perfume like it and puts it on anyone other than a priest must be cut off from their people’ (NIV). Unfortunately, this warning has separated the Church from her inheritance of the oil for numerous generations, as it has been greatly feared and misunderstood.

“In David Stern’s translation, The Complete Jewish Bible, Exodus 30:33 reads as ‘Whoever makes any like it or uses it on any unauthorized person is to be cut off from his people.’ A more Hebraic understanding is that “unauthorized” simply meant those who were not kings and priests.

“It was after the rebellion of Korah (Num. 16) when God commanded the anointing oil to be set aside for priests alone. Korah and the 250 princes challenged Moses and Aaron in an attempt to overthrow their leadership. The instructions regarding the oil and its uses were consequently put in place to protect the priesthood and to prevent another rebel from duplicating the oil, and proclaiming himself as the true priest during an insurrection.

“Revelation 1:6 says that ‘ [Jesus Christ]…has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.’ In the Greek text, ‘kings and priests’ translates as ‘a kingdom of priests.’

“As Believers in Yeshua, Jesus, we have been called as kings and priests, and therefore, we are authorized to use the holy anointing oil. We are not authorized to abuse it, or to anoint man’s appointments, but we are indeed called to use the oil within the Kingdom, and to anoint God’s men and women—God’s appointments.

“We are called to be holy and set apart, and the anointing oil is simply a symbol of this separation and devotion. When you anoint your children, you are acknowledging that they belong to the Lord; when you anoint your home, you are acknowledging that your home is covered by the blood of Yeshua, Jesus, and that the culture within it reflects a Kingdom culture and not that of the world; and when you anoint the sick, you are following the instructions in James 5:14 which say:

“‘Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.’ (Emphasis added)

“Through the blood of Jesus, who came to fulfill the law, and our calling as kings and priests, we have been qualified to anoint with oil in the name of the Lord.

“In 1 Samuel 16:1, 10-13 we read about Samuel anointing David:

“‘Now the LORD said to Samuel, ‘How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided Myself a king among his sons.’ “Thus Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, ‘The LORD has not chosen these.’ And Samuel said to Jesse, ‘Are all the young men here?’ Then he said, ‘There remains yet the youngest, and there he is, keeping the sheep.’ And Samuel said to Jesse, ‘Send and bring him. For we will not sit down till he comes here.’ So he sent and brought him in. Now was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the LORD said, ‘Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!’ Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward…’ (Emphasis added)

“David was called out from amongst his brothers and was anointed to be King of Israel. While his kingship would not physically take place for many years, God still called on Samuel to anoint David with the holy anointing oil; this anointing set him apart for his future role as Israel’s king.

“As it says in verse 13: ‘the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward’ (Emphasis added). David was anointed to be king. He was anointed into his God-given calling and destiny. The anointing was a personal recognition of surrender to what God had preordained for David.

“In 1 Chronicles 11:3 it says: ‘Therefore all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and David made a covenant with them at Hebron before the LORD. And they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the LORD by Samuel.’

“David was again anointed according through the prophet several years prior. It was a physical act of honor and recognition that resulted in a spiritual activation that had both a physical and spiritual impact on David’s future, and on the future of Israel.

“It was one moment, one “moed” (divine appointment), one anointing that changed history as we know it. The act of anointing is deeply and spiritually symbolic, but we can witness its manifestation in the natural realm.”
