Israel… God’s Chosen People

We often hear and refer to Israel as being “God’s chosen people,” yet do we understand what that truly means? Are the Jews still God’s chosen people? To explore this understanding, we turn our Bible pages back to the beginning… to Genesis.

“I will make you a great nation; and I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the all families of the earth shall be blessed.”—Genesis 12:2-3

From the beginning, God had a plan, both for His land and His people. In reading the scriptures, throughout both the Old and New Testaments, we see God has a heart for His people. He disciplines and blesses them out of the love He has for them.

“For whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives.”—Hebrews 12:6

It is evident throughout the Bible that God has not cast the nation of Israel aside, but has a plan for their restoration. God has a promise for the nation that many today are blind to or have forgotten.

“He will set up a banner for the nations, and will assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.”—Isaiah 11:12

REMBEMBER is a word used continuously throughout the Bible. Why? Because… O, how often we forget. Not only did the nation of Israel forget about God’s promise, but Believers today do as well. To understand what is to come, for both Israel, her land, and we as Believers, we must always remember. Remember where we were before we were restored to the Father through Yeshua.

“The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the Lord loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.”—Deuteronomy 7:7-8

Through the blood of Yeshua, we have been brought into the family of God, which allows us access to many blessings. Out of honor and respect for His work on the cross, we must honor our spiritual family.

With persecution, sorrow and hurt prevalent in the world today, we cannot deny that we are in the last days. Will you stand with Israel? Not abandoning her in this time of need and fulfillment of prophecy?

“For the Lord will not forsake His people, for His great name’s sake, because it pleases the Lord to make you His people.”—1 Samuel 12:22

Few consider what the Jewish people have endured as being God’s chosen. Though they have suffered greatly, they will be restored abundantly.

“Now I say that Jesus Christ has become a servant to the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made to the fathers, and that the Gentiles might glorify God for His mercy…”—Romans 15:8-9

Remember with us today, the reason we can share in Israel’s inheritance—for if it wasn’t for God’s chosen people, we could not glorify Him for His mercy.
