More Great Gift Ideas That Warm Hearts and Leave Legacies (Part 2)

The perfect gift may require some out-of-the-box thinking

Do you have a person on your holiday shopping list who seems to have everything? Do you have a grandparent or parent who is hard to buy for because they don’t really want a “thing” but would rather leave a legacy and make an impact?

Gift giving, especially during the holidays, can be stressful. How many of us say, “I don’t know what to get Mom or Dad this year!” You call up siblings, aunts, uncles, and friends of your parents or loved ones trying to conjure up ideas that spark some “aha” moment—that moment you finally figure out the perfect gift!

If you’ve exhausted your resources trying to come across the perfect gift for those hard-to-buy-for people on your list, let us help you out.

You can read HERE about unique gift ideas for the foodie and earth lover… now we are going to add a few more to the recipient list—passionate activists, legacy leavers, and the spiritually minded. They might put your gift-giving skills to the test, but we can give you the kindling you need to warm their hearts this holiday season.

For the passionate activist

If you know a politically passionate person, then it goes without saying you know their views on most hot topics. With those strong opinions come personal stories to back them up as to why they see the world as they do. They are movers and shakers and want to see purposed plans accomplished.

Help the passionate make a political statement

“For the nation and kingdom which will not serve you shall perish, and those nations shall be utterly ruined.”—Isaiah 60:12

What better way for the political enthusiast to make a statement that aligns with their beliefs than to have a tree planted on an army base in Israel or on a moshav in the tumultuous Gaza Strip?

Planting in Israel doesn’t just help the economy—when you stand upon the high points of settlements beyond the Green Line such as Ma'ale Adumim, the land stretches farther than the eye can see. If their dream is to see Israel blooming from that view, the idea of olive groves spread across the nation isn’t too far off.

You could give your political activist precisely what he or she needs to make a bold statement in this coveted location during this crucial time in history.

Recently, My Olive Tree partnered with an Israeli family that owns land right along the Gaza Strip. We want to help them reach their goal, which is to fill their family farm with crops again. In the last few months, their crops have been boycotted by the Boycott, Divestment and Sections movement (BDS).

But now they have a chance to overcome the boycott with groves of olive trees in their fields that will produce a harvest to be sold around the world.

For example, the Bitan family has lived in the area for more than 40 years. Grandparents and grandchildren have worked side by side harvesting the fields. Now acres lay desolate because of the boycott, and we have an opportunity to save a farm and make a statement in a loud voice!

For the legacy-leaver

As we age and watch our kids and grandkids grow, a realization comes to mind. It seems like only yesterday that our children crawled up on our laps and handed us their favorite book for us to read to them.

Now it is our grandchildren who are nestled in our cozy laps. We start to become very aware that these memorable moments are fleeting. There comes a time when we begin to appreciate each minute and wish they could last forever.

Maybe you were that child or grandchild, and you want a way to tell your children about Grandma—what she was passionate about, whom she loved, and what she prayed for every day.

There is something within the human makeup that desires to leave a legacy for future generations as well as honor those who paved the way for us.

We want to pass on the legacy that was entrusted to us. Legacy can mean different things to different people, but ultimately, it’s about making a statement and leaving a voice that outlives you.

Give the gift of legacy

“A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children…”—Proverbs 13:22

If you have someone on your list who wants to leave a lasting legacy in the Promised Land, we want to give you the opportunity to sow seeds of hope and plant roots in the holy soil. Planting an olive tree in honor of a loved one allows their legacy to live on for generations. It is a way for the family to stay connected in faith and values as time passes.

Planting a tree to recognize those who have made an impact on your life gives them a way to leave a lasting mark.

For the spiritually-minded

The holiday season is special to all of us. But for those who are zealous for the Lord and have a deep compassion for Israel, this time of year isn’t so much about big gifts, decorated homes, and festive parties—instead they focus more on the birth of their Savior, places He walked during His ministry, and where He will one day return and rule—Jerusalem.

“At that time Jerusalem shall be called The Throne of the Lord, and all the nations shall be gathered to it, to the name of the Lord, to Jerusalem…”—Jeremiah 3:17

For the Believer who stands with Israel, wants to embrace their spiritual heritage, and strives to break the yoke of sin in their lives, anointing oil is a unique and powerful gift.

Offer the Believer a spiritual tool

“For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”—Romans 8:6

To be spiritually minded means to seek Him in all things and break the yoke of anything that holds you back from His blessings.

My Olive Tree has taken the olive oil from the olive trees in Israel and prepared the King’s Oil according to Exodus 30:25-33. If you know about the King’s Oil, the Bible teaches it can only be used on priests. But the good news is that Jesus is our High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek!

“This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.”—Hebrews 6:19-20

And we are joint heirs with Him!

“…and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.”—Romans 8:17

This means we are authorized to use the King’s Oil, which is already being utilized by Believers everywhere!
