Even fifty years ago! If we compare photographs of the land 100 years ago to what it is today, the land was desolate! Even around Jerusalem or Galilee, there was little in the way of life and prosperity.
Fast forward to today and the nation—the Promised Land spoken of in the Word—is thriving, just as the Word says. The deserts are beginning to be farmed—blooming as spoken of in Isaiah. The children of Israel are living there again, just as the Word spoke of. With every olive tree, fruiting tree, grape vine, and more that is being planted in Israel, the prophecy of the Word is brought closer to our eyes!
The land is being reborn, restored, and God’s children are thriving there—the epitome of biblical realization—all displays of God’s heart, patience, love, and power. Further, this life from once stark land and biblical fulfillment is a beautiful reminder that the time for the return of our Messiah is nearing…
When olive oil is pouring forth from a land that by all rights should be dry and desolate, when the Word of God is being brought to life… we ought to take notice. It is biblical testimony.
Yet, the importance of Israel grown and made olive oil does not stop with this biblical testimony—though, surely that is enough reason for it to be important. While most of the olive oil on myolivetree.com comes from a location near the Sea of Galilee, perhaps the best way to show the importance of Israeli made olive oil is to focus on a single family. The Bitan family. Who, unlike most of those who grow and produce olive oil, reside in a desert-like region, a mere three miles from the Gaza Strip!
For generations the Bitan family have lived there, growing flowers which were primarily exported to Europe, until the BDS movement swept through those countries to which they imported. Suddenly flower shops refused to stock Israeli produced flowers. Suddenly their inheritance and legacy was in jeopardy.
In a short period the Bitan’s went from running a successful farm—despite minimal rainfalls, warfare, and even balloons sent from Gaza to burn and destroy—to having to consider selling their inheritance.
It was only through people like YOU that they were able to regroup and plant olive trees in place of flowers—hoping to one day even provide Temple oil! It was only through the support of people like YOU that the family was able to survive, and, we pray as their business grows, to thrive!
This story may not be the same as that of the olive trees being planted on military bases, or in the King’s Valley. The oil may not come from the same region. Yet, the Bitan family farm, just like the others, show the importance of planting the trees and buying their oil. YOUR support creates a mosaic of potential. It brings the Word of God to life through the fulfillment of prophecy, the love of Yeshua, and the very heart of God! When the Bitan’s ability to provide for their family through their flower business was destroyed, it appeared as if the enemy had won… but he did NOT. What the enemy meant for evil, the Lord turned for good.
Now, the Bitan’s are growing an even more useful product than before. Now, their family is being restored and they will one day be able to provide many jobs to those outside of their family. Now they are prospering.
We cannot discount the Bitan family’s determination in this, however, much of this is thanks to God’s beautiful plan. A plan where Gentile Believers help our Jewish brothers and sisters.
