When we witness God’s promises come to pass for Israel, it glorifies His name, proves His Word, and grows our faith. God is restoring Israel in the last days, revealing the prophetic significance of the times we are in and giving us hope for what is to come.
Furthermore, it should provoke us to take part in the restoration process!
God Restoring Israel in the Last Days | The Land
Ezekiel gives specific prophecies for the land of Israel in the last days…
“Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and say to the mountains, the hills, the rivers, and the valleys, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I have spoken in My jealousy and My fury, because you have borne the shame of the nations.” Therefore thus says the Lord God: “I have raised My hand in an oath that surely the nations that are around you shall bear their own shame. But you, O mountains of Israel, you shall shoot forth your branches and yield your fruit to My people Israel, for they are about to come.”’”—Ezekiel 36:6-8
God is speaking through Ezekiel very clearly. In this passage, the land will be restored, which will impact the people.
God gives a message of warning.
In the first few verses of the chapter, the Lord tells us that Israel’s enemies claim possession, thinking that Israel’s exile gave them a license to do so. However, the Lord also instructs Ezekiel to prophesy that…
“Because they [enemies] made you desolate and swallowed you up on every side” (Ezekiel 36:3), God will restore the mountains, hills, rivers, valleys, and cities.
In other words, just when the surrounding nations think Israel is wiped away, God will restore the land and demonstrate His sovereignty, power, trustworthiness, and glory.
If God demonstrates His glory and justice for Israel, then there must be an object for which He uses to portray it.
In other words, God will demonstrate His justice for Israel by displaying it upon those who oppose her.
We should not take this message of Israel’s land restoration lightly.
“therefore, O mountains of Israel… that have been forsaken, which became plunder and mockery to the rest of the nations all around—therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Surely I have spoken in My burning jealousy against the rest of the nations and against all Edom, who gave My land to themselves as a possession, with wholehearted joy and spiteful minds, in order to plunder its open country.’”—Ezekiel 36:4,5 (emphasis added)
In short, if we aren’t for Israel, we are choosing to be against her. This ultimately leads to receiving the “burning jealousy” of God.
Restoring Israel in the Last Day | The Promise
In the same chapter of Ezekiel, God promises to restore “My people” to the physical land of Israel.
“For indeed I am for you, and I will turn to you, and you shall be tilled and sown. I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, all of it; and the cities shall be inhabited and the ruins rebuilt. I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bear young; I will make you inhabited as in former times, and do better for you than at your beginnings. Then you shall know that I am the Lord. Yes, I will cause men to walk on you, My people Israel; they shall take possession of you, and you shall be their inheritance; no more shall you bereave them of children.”—Ezekiel 36:9-12
According to Israeli government statistics, only 20% of Israel’s land is suitable for agriculture. However, since the nation’s independence in 1948, the amount of land used for farming has tripled and production has increased 16-fold.
Moreover, they have found innovative ways to farm, preserve the land, and preserve water.
God says the land will the “tilled and sown.” There is a spiritual hope in this physical promise. God can take what once seemed dead and unfruitful and, and when we partner with Him, makes it come to life. It not only bears fruit, but it multiplies!
The Takeaway
God’s promises to Israel are coming to pass, therefore, we cannot deny Israel’s role in the last days.
When we look for opportunities to be a part of Israel’s destiny, we are not only blessed (according to Genesis 12:3), but our faith is also encouraged.
We start to see God’s acts of restoration everywhere…

Therefore, being a part of restoring Israel in the last days reaches across the world and into the human heart.
God is inviting us to have a direct tie to these promises in Ezekiel.
