Here is what happens after you choose to sponsor a tree:
Soon after you begin sponsorship, you will be mailed a certificate of authenticity. You'll also be able to find the name associated with your sponsorship on our Wall of Honor. Your tree will then start to produce fruit after about two or three years.
Once the tree begins bearing fruit is when the real benefits to the people of Israel begin to arise. The harvesting of these trees in our groves is an opportunity for employment that many of the people in Israel would never otherwise have (Israel is the most impoverished of all countries considered to be “economically developed”). Upon their harvest, they will be processed into high-quality olive oil and other related products.
The proceeds from olive sales goes right back into Israel through various humanitarian aid projects and economic efforts, which help to feed and care for the nation's underprivileged children. Therefore, your sponsorship of an olive tree has a very direct impact on our ability to help these children and the poor people of Israel to overcome some of the challenges in their life and to escape a life of poverty.
Your tree reaches maturity after seven years and will then begin to yield its best possible harvest. The one-time gift you make for sponsoring the tree covers this entire seven year process. You are making a harvest possible, and that's making a difference that you simply cannot understate.
