Why Plant Trees in the Desert?
Since May 1, 2008, My Olive Tree has been planting olive trees in Israel. Our ministry's ultimate vision is to plant 1 million trees over the next 7 years, with the majority of those taking root in the barren, sparsely populated region of the Negev Desert.
While this ancient and vast landscape is full of rich history, including the homeland of Abraham, you might be wondering…
Why plant trees in a desert? Wouldn't it make more sense to plant them in a place where they could grow more easily?
You're right. After all, olive trees are not a desert plant. They must have regular watering to thrive.
But… what you might not know is the prophecy behind this very intentional decision to plant olive trees in the Negev Desert of Israel.
We are beginning to witness a restitution of all things as predicted prior to the return of our Lord (Acts 3:21).
Israel has been restored as a nation, with the return of Jews and Jerusalem as its capital… Evangelicals are returning to the Jewish roots of their faith… The King's Oil has been restored to the Church…
Now, we are planting trees (and vineyards) in the desert to fulfill the prophecies of Israel's physical restoration described by the prophets, Amos and Isaiah:
“’On that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, and repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old; that they may possess the remnant of Edom, and all the Gentiles who are called by My name,’ says the Lord who does this thing. ’Behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘when the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him who sows seed; the mountains shall drip with sweet wine, and all the hills shall flow with it. I will bring back the captives of My people Israel; they shall build the waste cities and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and drink wine from them; they shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them. I will plant them in their land, and no longer shall they be pulled up from the land I have given them,’ says the Lord your God.”—Amos 9:11-15

Centuries ago, the Bible described how the walls of Israel will be rebuilt and the people will be given back their land (see Amos 9:11-15). This prophecy spoken to us through the Word of God is exactly why we are planting trees in the desert.
We believe He is bringing restoration to Israel economically, environmentally, and spiritually, and we want to help fulfill this prophecy of making the desert blossom and rejoice!
Through the physical act of helping restore Israel's land and agriculture, we are bridging the gap between Evangelical Christians and Israel in order to be a part of God's promise to restore, rebuild, and ultimately glorify Him.

My Olive Tree has been privileged with the unique opportunity to partner directly with the city of Jerusalem and the Israeli Defense Forces. Through this partnership, we are able to access the land and resources necessary to achieve our mission of planting 1 million olive trees in Israel.
In addition, both the Israeli Olive Oil Board and the Israeli Ministry of
Agriculture have endorsed our ministry and support this powerful partnership with Israel.
But it’s not just the location of our groves that makes them so special…Unlike other organizations, we sponsor the planting of olive trees throughout the Negev Desert and on Israeli army bases, enabling the desert to bloom as prophesied.
One of our most important olive groves is our Peace Grove, which is planted over a terror tunnel. By purposely planting this grove in one of Israel’s most difficult areas, we are giving hope to the soldiers and locals of that area and showing them a physical sign of peace and our solidarity with them as Believers.
What Makes Our Olive Groves So Unique?
Unlike other agencies that sponsor tree planting in Israel, our trees are planted to both physically restore the land and to produce a healthy harvest year after year.
We don’t just sponsor a tree then leave it to die in the desert. Thanks to the partnership we have with Israel, our trees benefit from super irrigation and state-of-the-art technology that allows them to grow and thrive as they were designed to do.
Local irrigation companies and nurseries, farmers, immigrant workers, and soldiers are all part of how we are uniquely able to water and care for our trees so that they become healthy and mature, producing plentiful fruit year after year even in the arid lands of the Negev Desert!

The Tree You Plant Today Will Continue to Bless the Nation of Israel Year after Year!
Here’s how this simple, yet powerful process works:
Step 1: With a one-time investment, an olive tree will be sponsored in your name or the name of a family member, friend, or loved one.
Step 2: Your investment covers the expense of planting the tree and caring for it for its first 7 years until it becomes healthy and mature. We have partnered with farmers and locals to carefully tend to your adopted tree so that it will have everything it needs to grow quickly and produce a healthy harvest at around age 3.
Step 3: With your sponsorship, you will receive a beautiful digital certificate of authenticity. Additionally, you'll be able to look up the name associated with your sponsorship on our Wall of Honor!

Honoring and Caring for Israel’s Holocaust Survivors | Israel’s Past
Recently, while on a rare tour of Israel, the leadership of My Olive Tree and many of our sponsors were invited to celebrate a Shabbat dinner with more than 400 Holocaust Survivors. It was a special moment where we experienced the warm embrace of many of these brave men and women, whose lives we’ve touched over the years. It is our hope to give them a lasting legacy, through the Holocaust Victim Legacy Package, by honoring those who lost their lives in the horrible events of the Holocaust.
My Olive Tree has held special events throughout Israel for these precious survivors through the Holocaust Victim Legacy Package. With much generous sponsorship through this initiative, we were able to distribute warm winter blankets to over 200 survivors during the Hanukkah season and on Christmas day.
Many of these survivors are long-time residents of Israel. Each survival story is unique, yet there is commonality in their struggles today—financial distress and provisions in times of need. A warm winter blanket not only meets a physical need… it also displays of sincere love and compassion for these all too often forgotten lives.

Support for Servicemen and Women in the IDF including Lone Soldiers | Israel’s Present
Part of our vision is to bring peace and hope back to the nation of Israel, and this means supporting the soldiers who bravely defend this nation. How does My Olive Tree support IDF soldiers?
Following former Prime Minister Netanyahu’s dream of a long-term solution for the nation of Israel, we partnered with the IDF to plant trees in army bases across the nation.
The trees planted on and around the army bases are cared for by the soldiers. Once a tree is sponsored and planted, the IDF benefits from 100% of the profits raised during the annual harvests.
At 2 to 3 years of age, your tree will begin producing fruit. When the tree turns 4 years old, the oil is considered kosher and the first harvest begins. The harvesting of this fruit will create new job opportunities for Israeli immigrants, and the olives that are harvested will be processed into the finest quality of olive oil and olive oil products.

Support for Israel’s Economy through Kibbutzim | Israel’s Present
Kibbutzim have been the foundation of Israel since before statehood in 1948. After Israel became a state, kibbutzim were set up strategically around army bases to provide protection. As they grew, they provided a boost to Israel’s economy through their harvests.
Similar to planting trees in and around army bases, My Olive Tree either provides for or plants trees for kibbutz farmers. Your tree sponsorships are a gift to these farmers. We work closely with them to provide irrigation as the olive trees mature.
The kibbutz farmers take over the care and production of the trees, giving them a sense of pride and accomplishment, furthering their motivation.
After the appointed 4 years of producing fruit, the oil is kosher and the farmers harvest the oil. The kibbutz farmers receive 100% of the profit from these harvests—providing a continual cycle of blessing to the Jewish people and their land.
Given the 500 to 600-year average life span of olive trees, these crops will thrive and produce a harvest for many generations to come.

The children of the Yeladim Children’s Home joined IDF soldiers in recent years to plant for the future of their nation.
During this My Olive Tree planting initiative, Holocaust Survivors united with the Yeladim children and IDF servicemen and women planted over 700 trees in one day!
